2017 Mazda CX-3 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Got a call from an Uber driver sitting in a pulloff near Topa Topa Brewing Company in Oxnard. His 2017 Mazda CX-3 had the emergency key blade snapped clean off inside the driver door lock. Years of heavy use, getting in and out between rides, and the thin MAZ24 blade just gave up.
He had already called another locksmith who told him the cylinder would need to be drilled out. New lock, new key, the whole deal.
I started with the broken fob housing. The ID49 chip inside was still intact, so I pulled transponder data with my VVDI2. Then I used my MAZ24 Lishi tool to extract the broken blade fragment without scoring the wafer surfaces. Once that was out clean, I decoded the lock to original depths and cut a fresh blade on site.
The WAZSKE13D01 shell was cracked from the break, so I transferred the board and chip into a new 3-button housing, part number KDY3-67-5DY. Tested lock, unlock, trunk, push-button start, walked to every door. All good.
He sat on the curb the whole time watching. When I handed it back he turned it over a couple times like he was checking if it was really his. Same key data, same programming, fresh shell and blade.
No drilling. No cylinder swap. No trip to the dealer. He was back picking up rides in under an hour.
