2018 Mazda CX-3 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
RiverPark in Oxnard is a busy area in the morning. Lots of early risers heading out before the traffic builds. I got a call from a woman who'd bought her 2018 CX-3 used about two years prior, one key in the deal, always meant to get a spare made. She never did. Then the fob housing cracked at the pivot where the emergency blade folds in, and when she tried to use the blade to get into the car, it snapped off inside the door lock.
She was standing in a parking lot with the fob body in one hand and no working key to her name.
I drove out to RiverPark and extracted the broken blade with a pick set, then got into the car. Because the circuit board inside the cracked fob housing was still intact and readable, I didn't have to do a full all-keys-lost reset. I transferred what I needed from the old board, cut a fresh blade to the vehicle, rehoused everything, and programmed the replacement fob through the diagnostic port. Tested all three buttons, tested the emergency blade in the door lock, and ran a start cycle.
She had a working key in about forty minutes. She mentioned the dealer had quoted her a number that made her stomach drop. What she paid with me was a fraction of that. If you still have the broken pieces of your key when you call, tell me. It can change what kind of job this turns into.
