Out in Bostonia, off East Main, a Giulia owner called me on a Tuesday afternoon. She had walked out to her car that morning, the fob in her pocket, and nothing happened. No click, no welcome lights, nothing. She tried the button on the door handle. Same result. She ended up getting in with the physical backup blade tucked inside the fob, but the push-button start would not recognize the key, so the car just sat there.

When I got there, I pulled up the fob, reseated the battery with the right contact pressure, and tested range at the door. Still getting the key-not-detected warning. So this was not a battery story. The fob had lost its pairing with the vehicle security system. That happens. It does not mean the fob is dead.
I connected through the OBD port, pulled up the Giulia's immobilizer, and walked through the re-pairing process on site. When it came back, I tested every function at all four doors and at the start button before I put anything away. Total time on site was under forty minutes.
She mentioned the dealer had given her a two-to-three day window just to get an appointment. That part I did not need to say anything about.
