2023 Genesis G70 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call from a woman who works out of a medical clinic near Kearny Mesa. Before she even told me what she needed, she told me she'd already looked up my BSIS license, read through my reviews, and done her research. That's not unusual in her field. She said she checks credentials before she lets anyone near anything she owns. I respect that completely.
She had a 2023 Genesis G70 and wanted a spare smart key made. The car was running fine, she had her original fob, she just wanted a backup. Reasonable thing to want.
I met her at the clinic. The G70 was in the lot, original fob in hand. I connected through the OBD port and pulled the immobilizer data before touching anything on the programming side. That's just how I work. You document the state of the system before you change anything in it.
Adding a spare key to a vehicle that still has its original registered is a cleaner job than all-keys-lost, but the G70's security system still requires proper diagnostic equipment and the correct authorization path to enroll a new fob. No shortcuts, no workaround methods. The new six-button fob paired correctly, I walked through every function with her, and we were done.
She asked a few sharp questions during the job, which I was happy to answer. At the end she mentioned the dealer had quoted her a number that was a significant chunk more than what she paid me. She wasn't surprised. She'd done the research.
