Over in the CSUSM Area of San Marcos, I got a call from someone whose G70 had been sitting in a covered parking structure since the night before. The fob had been acting up for about a week, range getting shorter, then one morning the car just would not acknowledge it at all. No response from the push-to-start, key-not-detected warning on the cluster, nothing.

When I got there, I pulled the fob apart first. The CR2450 inside was original, and the contact had a slight oxide film on it. I cleaned it, seated a fresh CR2450, and tested. The car woke right up. That was the whole story for the fob itself.

All-keys-lost on this platform requires diagnostic equipment and a timed enrollment process through the OBD port. It is not a dealer-only job, but it is not a quick ignition-turn sequence either. I walked him through getting a spare made while I was already on site, same visit, so he would not be in that situation down the road.
