2024 Genesis Gv60
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

Q: What is the FCC ID for the 2024 Genesis GV60 key fob?

The factory FCC ID is printed on the back label of your fob. It tells us the exact fob specification we need to match, which means I show up with the right hardware instead of figuring it out at the car. Bring that number if you call, or I can confirm it on site.

Q: Do I need to bring my GV60 somewhere for a key replacement?

No. I come to the car. Driveway in San Ysidro Village, a parking lot, wherever it is sitting. The diagnostic equipment and the key-cutting tools are in my van. Programming a new smart key for the GV60 requires a connection to the OBD port and the right security credentials for the vehicle, but none of that requires a dealer bay. The whole job typically runs under an hour, and you do not have to arrange a ride or a tow.

Q: I lost both keys for my 2024 GV60. Is all-keys-lost actually solvable without going to the dealer?

Yes, and it is a job I handle regularly. All-keys-lost on the GV60 means the vehicle security system has to be reset through the diagnostic port before any new fob can be enrolled. That process involves pulling the vehicle's security PIN data, wiping the existing key memory, and registering the new fob or fobs fresh. The old lost keys get erased in the process so they cannot start the car if someone finds them.

Q: My GV60 fob works sometimes and not others. Is the fob failing, or is something wrong with the car?

Start with the battery. An intermittent fob on the GV60 is most often a CR2450 that is on its way out, or one that shifted slightly in the tray so the contact is inconsistent. Pull the fob open, check that the cell is seated flat and making solid contact on both faces, and try a fresh battery before assuming anything deeper is wrong.

2024 Genesis Gv60 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A call came in from San Ysidro Village on a Tuesday morning, about twenty minutes before the guy needed to leave for work. He had a 2024 Genesis GV60, one fob total, and he had just watched a coworker spend a week dealing with an all-keys-lost situation on a different vehicle. He wanted a spare in hand before that became his problem.

He had already called the Genesis dealer. They told him to bring the car in, schedule ahead, and plan to leave it for a few hours. He was not going to do that on a workday.

I met him in his driveway in San Ysidro Village. While he finished getting ready, I connected to the OBD port, pulled the security data the system needed, and got the new fob paired and registered. The emergency insert blade got cut to match the door lock while the software was doing its timed enrollment sequence. By the time he walked back out with his bag, both fobs were working. Touch unlock on both handles, start button, everything.

He tested the new fob himself, the way everyone does, button by button, then just stood there for a second like he expected something to fail.

It did not fail. He left for work on time. The dealer comparison came up exactly once, when he said he saved a good chunk and appreciated not rearranging his morning around a service appointment.

Genesis Gv60 Mobile Service FAQ

Real costs, no dealer surprises

What battery does the 2024 Genesis GV60 key fob use?▼

CR2450. It is a larger-diameter coin cell, so do not grab a CR2032 by mistake because it will not seat correctly. These are available at hardware stores and electronics retailers. Worth knowing: a dying CR2450 on this fob does not always give you a clear warning before the symptoms start. Reduced range or a sluggish response from the door handle touch sensor can show up before any low-battery indicator does.
