2016 Hyundai Genesis Coupe
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2016 Hyundai Genesis Coupe Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A resident at Coronado Shores called me on a Tuesday afternoon. He had one working smart fob and wanted a spare before something went wrong. Reasonable thinking.

He had already called the dealer. Parts quoted him a price on the fob alone, then service added programming labor on top, and by the time he got a full number it was a significant chunk of his afternoon budget. They also wanted the car dropped off, which meant either taking half a day or arranging a ride back from the island.

I met him in the parking area at the complex. He had the car, his ID, and his registration ready, which made the ownership verification take about ninety seconds.

I connected to the OBD port, let the system read the vehicle's PIN automatically, and walked through the fob registration sequence. New fob enrolled, old fob confirmed still active, emergency blade cut to the ignition. Then I did what I always do before I pack up: tested every button, confirmed the vehicle recognized both fobs independently, and had him use the new key himself to make sure it felt right in his hand.

The whole job was done before his parking meter needed attention. He paid a fraction of what the dealer quoted, never moved the car, and left with a working spare. That is the version of this job I like best.
