2023 Mazda CX-30 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Down in the Seacoast neighborhood of Imperial Beach, about a block from the water, a photographer was wrapping up a two-day shoot and realized her only fob for the CX-30 was sitting on the passenger seat. Doors locked. Engine off. She had a location job the next morning and zero backup plan.
She called the Mazda dealer first. They told her she'd need a tow to their service bay and couldn't see her until the following week. She called me about an hour later.
I drove out that evening and met her in the parking area outside her rental. The CX-30 was locked up tight. I got in through the door mechanically, recovered her original fob, and then we talked through her situation. She had one key total. No spare. She wanted a second fob cut and programmed before she left the area.
I pulled the VIN, confirmed the fob specs against what she had, and got to work at the back of my van. Cut the blade, connected through the OBD port with my programming equipment, and added the new fob to the vehicle. The whole thing took about 25 minutes once I had the door open. I handed her two working keys and walked every button on both fobs right there in the lot.
She made her shoot the next morning. The dealer never came up again after she heard my timeline.
