2024 Subaru Solterra Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Old Town National City, middle of the afternoon. A retired firefighter called me from his place in a manufactured home community off the main stretch.
He had a 2024 Subaru Solterra and wanted a spare key cut and programmed before a road trip. He had one working fob, no backup, and the dealer had given him a wait on the part plus a separate appointment for programming. He decided to look for another way.
His neighbor had used me before. That's how my number ended up in his hand.
When I pulled up, he was already outside watching. He asked if I'd done Solterra jobs before, which is a fair question because the car is still relatively new. I told him yes and walked him through what was about to happen so he wasn't just standing there watching a guy with a laptop.
The programming sequence on this one goes through the diagnostic port. The immobilizer has to recognize the new fob as a valid key before it will authorize anything. Once that handshake completes and the fob is enrolled, I test every function before I call it done. Lock, unlock, the trunk release, the panic, and the start sequence. He stood there watching the whole thing and asked questions the entire time, which I genuinely don't mind.
Thirty minutes, one visit, done in his driveway. He saved a good chunk compared to what the dealer had quoted him and didn't have to leave his car anywhere.
