A wine club member out at a vineyard near La Colonia neighborhood learned this the useful way. He was at a tasting event about 25 minutes outside town and his Acura key stopped working. I used my ACDP to back up his immobilizer data before starting work, then cleaned the emergency blade slot, built and programmed a complete replacement fob, and tested every function on-site. His smart key, FCC ID KR5995364, was a 5-button proximity fob that started his car on the first try.
His car started in that gravel lot, same spot it had been parked all afternoon. Total was around 312. A dealer would have charged 572 plus a tow from a location no flatbed could easily reach. He seemed pretty impressed it could all happen at a vineyard.
