From there I connected through OBD and ran the Genesis all-keys-lost sequence to erase previous fobs and register the new one as primary. His smart key, FCC ID SY5HIFGE04, started the car on the first try. I cut him a spare too so he wouldn't be in this situation again.
His Genesis started in the golf course lot. Total was around 265. Dealer wanted 450 plus a tow and a weekday appointment. Lock decode to engine running took about 45 minutes.
