Downtown Moorpark has a stretch of event venues tucked just off the main corridor, and one evening I got a call from a catering company owner who was breaking down his setup after a private dinner. His 2019 Genesis G90 was parked in the lot, and his fob was gone. Not in the car, not in his jacket, not with any of his crew. Gone.
Two of his staff had already told him luxury brand all-keys-lost was dealer-only territory. One of them had even pulled up a tow company on his phone.
I told him to hold off on the tow and drove out there.
All-keys-lost on a push-button vehicle like the G90 is a different animal than adding a spare key when you still have a working one. There is no ignition cylinder to cycle, no bladed key to trick the system with. The immobilizer has to be accessed directly, old key data cleared, and the new fob enrolled fresh. On this generation, I use my ACDP to back up the immobilizer data before touching anything, then run the all-keys-lost sequence through the OBD port with the IM608. If something goes sideways mid-job, I have the read. Nothing went sideways.
His G90 started in the lot while his crew was still loading the last of the catering equipment into their van. He stood there for a second like he expected it not to work.
The dealer would have required a tow, an appointment, and a wait. He had a working key and was on the road before his crew finished packing. All-keys-lost on a Genesis is tool-dependent, not dealer-dependent.
