A late-working CPA called from a darkened parking lot in Birnam Wood, Montecito, somewhere around ten at night. His only fob to the G90 was gone. Not at home, not in the office. Just gone. He was calm on the surface but you could hear the math happening in his head: tow truck, dealer, two or three days without the car, the whole thing.
