Push-to-start all-keys-lost is the job that worries most Genesis owners the most. No visible key slot on the dash. No way to "just turn the ignition." The vehicle needs to wirelessly detect a fob programmed to its specific immobilizer before it powers on. If that fob is gone, the car feels completely dead, but it isn't.
A catering company owner at a private event venue outside Moorpark had a 2019 Genesis G90 with push-to-start and zero keys. He was breaking down after an evening event and his fob was nowhere. Two staff members told him luxury car AKL was always dealer-only.
I drove to the venue. Push-to-start AKL on Genesis is more involved than a standard add-a-key because the immobilizer module needs full access and all old key data must be wiped before new fobs can register. On some models this means pulling security data from the module using bench tools before finishing through OBD. I used my ACDP to read the immobilizer data as a backup, then ran AKL with my IM608. His smart key, FCC ID SY5HIFGE04, was a 4-button proximity fob.
His Genesis started in the venue lot while his crew loaded the van. Total was around 265. Dealer would have been 450 plus a tow. Luxury car AKL isn't dealer-only. It's tool-dependent.
