She was leaving an upscale mall in Montecito late one night and her purse was gone. Someone had grabbed it while she was distracted. Keys, wallet, phone, everything. She borrowed a store clerk's phone and called the police first, then her husband, then me.
Her 2021 Genesis G90 was in the valet lot with zero keys. The dealer told her husband they could order a fob but it would take 3 to 5 business days, the car would need to be towed in, and they suggested rekeying since the stolen fob could still open the doors.
I got there that night. All-keys-lost after a theft is not the same as adding a spare. I wipe the entire key memory so the stolen fob is erased from the system and can't start the engine even if the thief tries. I used my IM608 to access the immobilizer module, erase all stored key data, and program two new fobs from scratch. Her smart key, FCC ID SY5HIFGE04, was a 4-button proximity fob. I decoded the lock with my Lishi, cut the emergency blade, and had both fobs working before the mall security office closed.
She drove home that night. Total was 265 for two new keys. Dealer estimated 450 plus a tow and a multi-day wait. The stolen fob is dead to the vehicle.
