Push-to-start all-keys-lost is the job that scares most GMC owners the most. No physical key slot on the dash, no way to "just turn the ignition." The car needs to wirelessly detect a fob that's programmed to its specific body control module before it will even power on. If that fob is gone, the car feels completely dead, but it isn't.
An event vendor at the fairgrounds outside Simi Valley had a 2008 GMC Acadia with push-to-start and zero keys. He was packing up after an event and couldn't find his fob anywhere. Two people told him smart key all-keys-lost was dealer-only.
I drove to the fairgrounds. Push-to-start AKL is more involved than a standard transponder job because the body control module needs to be accessed and the old key data wiped before new fobs can learn. I used my ACDP to pull the immobilizer data as a safety backup, then ran the AKL sequence through OBD with my IM608. His smart key, FCC ID , was a -button proximity fob.
His car started at the fairgrounds with vendors packing up around us. Total was around 101. The dealer route would have been 214 plus a tow. Smart key AKL isn't dealer-only. It's tool-dependent. He was pretty amazed it could all happen right there.
