She was closing up at the brewery in Ventura, over near Olivas Adobe, after a bartending shift and her purse was gone. Someone grabbed it from behind the bar during the Friday rush. Keys, wallet, phone, all of it. She borrowed a coworker's phone, called the police, then her roommate, then me.

Her 2010 GMC Acadia was sitting in the brewery lot with zero keys. The roommate had already called the dealer. Their answer: order a new key, tow the car in, rekey the doors since the stolen key could still open them, and wait three to five business days.

I got there that night. All-keys-lost on a Passlock III vehicle is a different process than adding a spare. When you add a key, the car already recognizes an existing key's resistance profile and you just need a matching blank. AKL means I have to pull the lock cylinder data, decode the sidebar with my Lishi GM45, cut a new key on the correct B111 blank with the right Passlock resistance, and then run the full 30-minute security relearn through the BCM so the old stolen key reads as wrong to the system.

Cut two keys, ran the relearn cycles, tested both. She drove home before the officers finished her theft report.

The stolen key can still physically turn the lock, but the BCM won't let it start the engine. That part mattered to her more than anything else I said all night.
