2023 GMC Acadia
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

Q: How fast can you get to me in Old Town Camarillo?

Call and I'll give you a straight arrival window based on where I am that day. I'm mobile and already running jobs in and around Camarillo, so I'm not driving from a shop across the county. Old Town is a regular stop for me. Most of the time you're looking at well under an hour, often less.

Q: Can I get a replacement key made today?

In most cases, yes. I carry blanks and programming tools for the 2023 Acadia in the service vehicle. If you call, tell me what you've got, whether that's a lost key, a dead fob, or a second key you want added, and I'll let you know on the phone exactly what the same-day job looks like. No scheduling a week out, no tow required.

Q: I bought a replacement fob online for my 2023 Acadia. Can I program it myself?

No. The 2023 Acadia smart key system does not have an owner-accessible self-programming sequence. There's no ignition-turn trick, no button combination, nothing like that. Programming a new fob requires a diagnostic tool communicating through the OBD port to register the key to the vehicle's security system. If you already bought the fob, that's fine, it may well be the right part. You just still need someone with the proper equipment to pair it.

Q: The start button on my 2023 Acadia works fine but the door handle touch unlock stopped working. Is the fob failing?

Probably not the fob. If the push-button start still sees the key, the fob is communicating with the car. Touch unlock operating on some handles but not others usually points to the handle sensor or the wiring at that specific door, not the key itself. Wipe the handle area down, make sure there's no moisture or debris near the sensor zone, and test again. If it stays broken on one door while everything else works fine, that's a door-side issue.

2023 GMC Acadia Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

She called from the parking structure near the Camarillo outlets, just off the 101. Red-eye back from the east coast, rolling luggage, and her 2023 Acadia sitting there completely ignoring the fob.

She'd already tried the obvious stuff. Held the fob close to the start button, tried both doors, tried the hatch. Nothing. The car just sat there with that key-not-detected warning on the dash like it had somewhere better to be.

She called the dealer first. They told her Friday. It was Wednesday morning. A tow company quoted her a number she didn't want to hear. Then she found me.

I was out on Ventu Park Road when she called and got to her in about forty minutes. First thing I did was pop the fob and check the CR2032. It was the original factory cell, still sitting in there, barely putting out enough voltage to wake the system. The fob itself was fine. Both her keys were still registered to the vehicle. Nothing needed reprogramming.

Swapped the battery, reseated the contact, walked the car. Push-button start came right back. Touch unlock on both front handles worked. Ran through all five buttons to confirm everything was talking again. She was loading luggage into the back inside of ten minutes.

She mentioned the dealer quote on the way out. I just told her the fix was the battery, not the fob, and she saved a good chunk by not sitting in a dealer waiting room until Friday.

GMC Acadia Mobile Service FAQ

Real costs, no dealer surprises

How long does a 2023 GMC Acadia smart key replacement take?▼

Depends on the situation. If you have one working key and just need to add a second, the programming side of the job goes fairly quickly once I'm on site with the right equipment. All-keys-lost is a longer conversation because the vehicle security system has a timed relearn sequence built in and it cannot be rushed. Figure 45 minutes to an hour for that scenario from the time I arrive to a tested, working key in your hand.
