A guy in San Ysidro Village had been watching my channel for a while before he ever called me. He'd seen an Audi key video, recognized the process, and saved my number.
A few months later his 2015 A7 started giving him intermittent comfort access failures. The door handle touch unlock would work, then not work, then work again. The remote signal felt short. He wasn't locked out yet, but he could tell something was sliding.
He called me instead of waiting until it got worse.
When I got there, the fob looked fine from the outside. But when I opened it up, the CR2032 had a slight lean in the tray and the contact tension was soft. Swapped the battery, seated it correctly, and retested comfort access on all four handles before touching anything else. Two of them came right back. One door handle sensor had its own issue unrelated to the fob, which I told him about so he could track it separately.
The key itself still needed to be assessed for signal integrity, so I connected my diagnostic equipment and confirmed the fob was still registered cleanly to the vehicle's immobilizer with no pairing drift. No reprogramming needed. The fob was fine. The battery tray tension was the whole story on the key side.
He'd already mentally prepared for a full replacement. He didn't need one. That's not always how it goes, but it's always worth checking the simple stuff first, on site, before assuming the worst.
Dealer wasn't part of his day at all.
