Out in Otay Mesa, near the Nestor area, I got a call from a guy who'd been running on one key for about a year. He'd been meaning to get a spare made, kept putting it off, and then one afternoon he came out to his 2013 Q7 and his only key wouldn't unlock the doors from more than a foot away. The flip blade still turned the ignition fine, car started, but the remote function was basically dead.

Cut the blade to his vehicle on my cutter, then ran the programming sequence through my diagnostic equipment. The immobilizer enrollment and the remote pairing both ran clean. Tested the blade in the ignition, tested all three buttons, tested the flip mechanism about ten times because I've seen those springs fail on the first real use.
The whole thing took about 40 minutes. He now has two working keys instead of one barely working one. He mentioned the dealer had quoted him a number that made him pause long enough to call around, which is how he found me. He saved a good chunk, didn't wait a week for a dealer appointment, and never had to arrange a tow or a ride.
