2015 Audi Q7
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2015 Audi Q7 Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Out in San Diego Country Estates, the part of Ramona that feels more like wine country than suburb, a woman called me on a Tuesday evening.

She'd bought her 2015 Audi Q7 used, got one flip key with it, and had been meaning to get a spare cut for almost a year. The way she put it: she kept thinking about it every time she set the key down somewhere and couldn't find it for a minute.

She'd finally called the Audi dealer that afternoon. They told her to bring the car in, said to expect a half-day, and quoted her a number that made her pause. She found me that night.

I met her at a spot near the wine bar patio area. She had the car, her registration, and her one working key. I decoded the blade profile off the door lock directly using a pick-and-decode tool built for this lock family, so I didn't need to borrow the original key at all. Cut the new blade, programmed the transponder and the remote functions through the OBD port, and ran through every button: lock, unlock, trunk release. Both keys working, both confirmed on the car.

She was back at her table before her food got cold. The spare she'd been putting off for a year took about 35 minutes on a weeknight in a parking lot. No appointment, no drop-off, no half-day.

The dealer comparison came up when she asked. I just told her what I charged. She did the math herself.
