2000 BMW M5 Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Out in Otay Mesa, Brown Field Area, a guy called me at about 3am on a Tuesday. His 2000 BMW M5 was sitting in the driveway and he had one key left -- the original remote head key -- and it had stopped being recognized by the car entirely. No remote function, no start. He figured he was waiting until morning and calling a tow.

I told him to stay put.

The E39 generation uses an older immobilizer setup compared to later BMW platforms. There is no push-button start on these -- this car uses a key in the ignition cylinder the way it was built in 2000. I connected my diagnostic equipment through the OBD port, pulled the security data, and had a replacement remote head key programmed and the blade cut right there in his driveway.

He watched the whole thing from his front step with a coffee. When I handed it over and he turned the key and it fired up on the first try, he said he thought he was going to be dealing with a dealer appointment and a tow and a few days without the car.

That did not happen. He was back inside before 4am. The dealer comparison came up on its own -- he mentioned what a friend had paid for a BMW key replacement recently. All I said was that his number was a fraction of that, and that he did not have to tow anything.

For the E39 M5 specifically, this is a clean, on-site job. I come to you in Brown Field Area, I bring the equipment and the key, and it gets done where the car is parked.
