2017 Buick Verano Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A guy out near Kit Carson Park called me on a Saturday morning. He had driven his 2017 Buick Verano to a trailhead, closed the door, and the key blade snapped at the shoulder where the metal meets the flip pivot. Half the blade stayed in his hand. The other half was inside the door lock cylinder.

He had already called another locksmith who told him the cylinder would need to be drilled out. On a Verano, that creates a real problem: you end up with the ignition and the door lock on different keys, because the replacement cylinder gets a new cut. He wanted a second opinion before anyone started drilling on his car.

I met him at the vehicle. The fragment was stuck but not jammed deep, and the lock hadn't been forced. I extracted the broken piece without touching the wafer stack, then decoded the lock directly off the cylinder. Cut a new blade on site to match, transferred the chip and battery over to the new shell, and ran the programming sequence through the OBD port.

He tested every button, both locks, and the ignition before I left. Everything matched. No drilled cylinder, no mismatched keys, no tow.

The other locksmith's plan would have cost him a lot more and left him with a bigger headache. That part almost never comes up in my write-ups, but it's worth saying out loud: sometimes the second opinion is the right one.
