2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I was out near the Encanto Border side of Lemon Grove on a Tuesday when the job came in. A woman managing a dental office had her Grand Cherokee L in the lot and needed a spare key made before she was down to one. She hadn't lost anything yet, she was just being smart about it. That's actually my favorite kind of call because there's no stress, just work.

She met me outside and asked if she could watch. I told her that's fine, I've got nothing to hide.

I pulled up the vehicle information, confirmed the key type, and got the fob and blade material out of my kit. I decoded the lock cylinder, cut the blade on my machine, and then connected my programmer to the OBD port. The 2021 Grand Cherokee L goes through a security access sequence before any new key gets added to the system. You can't skip it and you can't do it with a generic tool. Once access was granted, I registered the new fob and let the system complete its pairing cycle.

Then the part that actually matters: I tested every button, confirmed the push-button start, walked the perimeter checking the passive entry handles, and did a range test from across the lot. Everything came back clean.

She watched the whole thing and said it looked like I'd done it a thousand times. I told her the number is higher than that. She laughed.

From arrival to handing her a working key was about 35 minutes. She mentioned what the dealer had quoted her for the same job. I came in well under that, and she didn't have to schedule anything or sit in a waiting room.
