1997 Lincoln Continental Metal Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call out to Winter Gardens in Lakeside on a weekday afternoon. Guy had a 1997 Lincoln Continental sitting in his driveway, key snapped off in the door lock. He had been using needle-nose pliers to drive the thing for two days and finally gave up.
He had already called the dealer. They told him to tow it in and they would cut him a new key from the VIN on file. He asked how long. They said probably next morning at the earliest, once service could look it up. He was not interested in any of that.
I pulled up to the driveway, got the broken shank out of the lock cylinder with an extractor, and then cut a replacement key to the vehicle right there in the van. The whole job took maybe twenty minutes from parking to handing him the key.
He held it up and just looked at it for a second. Said he expected it to be more complicated. I told him 1997 was a simpler time. He laughed.
No tow, no overnight wait, no service bay. He paid a fraction of what the dealer route would have cost, and his car stayed in the driveway the whole time.
