2001 Lincoln Continental Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call from a guy parked at the lot near Eden Gardens. He had a 2001 Lincoln Continental, the last year they made them, and he'd lost his only key. Not misplaced in the house. Gone.
He already called the Lincoln dealer before he called me. They told him to have it towed in and to expect a wait. He did not love that answer, especially sitting in a parking lot with a car that wasn't going anywhere.
I drove out to him. The Continental has a door lock cylinder, so I was able to get into the vehicle mechanically without any drama. From there it was diagnostic equipment on the OBD port to handle the immobilizer enrollment on an all-keys-lost job. The older Ford-based security system on this car has a timing sequence built into the process, so you do not rush it. You let it run. Total time on site was under an hour.
When the key turned and the engine held, he just sat there for a second. I think he half-expected it not to work.
He paid a fraction of what the dealer quoted, and the car never left the lot.
