2003 Oldsmobile Alero Remote Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call from a guy in Bressi Ranch, Carlsbad, standing next to his 2003 Alero in his own driveway. His fob had been acting up for weeks, shorter and shorter range, until it stopped responding entirely. He figured he would just order one online and be done with it. Fob showed up, and then he realized he had no way to program it.
He had done his homework, found the factory FCC ID on his old fob, matched it when he ordered. The replacement was the right unit. He just did not know the next step.
I pulled up and we went through it on the spot. His original key still worked in the ignition, which mattered because these older GM setups have an onboard sequence you can run when you have a working key available. Popped a fresh CR2032 into his new fob, cleaned the contact points while I had it open, ran the sequence, and tested every button including the panic.
Then I walked his original fob through the same process so both were registered. He had been running on one key for years. Leaving with two working fobs and a spare felt like a bigger deal to him than the repair itself.
He mentioned the dealer had quoted him a long wait just to get an appointment. We were done before lunch.
