Out in Bressi Ranch, I pulled up to a 2003 Bravada sitting in a driveway. The owner had the fob in hand and a look that said she had already tried everything she could think of.
She had replaced the CR2032 herself, which was the right first move. But the remote still would not lock or unlock the doors, and the panic button got nothing. The key still started the truck fine, so at least she was not stranded. The remote was just dead to the world.
I popped the fob open right there on the tailgate and checked the battery contact first. The positive clip had a slight inward bend, not making solid contact with the battery face. Not enough to see easily, but enough to starve the signal. I bent it back out, seated a fresh CR2032 I had on hand, and closed it up.
Still nothing. Contact fix alone did not solve it, which told me the fob had lost its pairing with the vehicle, probably from a battery drain on the truck at some point.
I ran the relearn process through the OBD port on site, confirmed all three buttons were responding, walked the perimeter testing lock, unlock, and panic, and that was it. She watched the whole thing from the garage doorway, maybe five feet away. The whole visit was shorter than she expected, and she paid a fraction of what the dealer quoted her when she called them a few days before.
She said the dealer told her they would need the truck for most of the day. I was there and gone in under an hour.
