2006 Scion XA Remote Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Scion uses Toyota's immobilizer system. Your 2006 Scion XA has a transponder chip in the key head that communicates with the car's immobilizer every time you turn the ignition. Early Scions use 4C or 4D chips. Later models moved to G-chip and H-chip with stronger encryption. The immobilizer sends a challenge, the chip responds with a calculated code, and the engine fires only if they match. That's why a blank key from a hardware store will turn the lock but will never start the engine.
A customer at Target in Santee thought only the dealer could program that chip. She'd been quoted $200 for a spare on her 2006 Scion XA and assumed the "computer chip" made it dealer-only. Her coworker had used me before and passed along my number.
I brought my Smart Pro to her car and connected through OBD. Her XA uses a remote head, FCC ID BAB237131-056, with 3 buttons. The "chip programming" the dealer charges a premium for is a security sequence my tool runs identically.
Her spare was cut, programmed, and tested in about 20 minutes. Total was around $95. The immobilizer technology is real, but the dealer markup on that technology isn't justified when a mobile locksmith carries the same programming tools.
