He called close to 11pm from a parking lot off Third Avenue Village in Chula Vista. His 2009 Volkswagen CC had gone completely dark on him. No response when he tried to start it, nothing useful on the dash, just a car that wasn't going anywhere. He'd been closing down the bar where he works and had an opening shift in eight hours.
