Push-to-start all-keys-lost is the job that worries most VW KESSY owners the most. No visible key slot on the dash, no way to "just turn the ignition." The car needs to wirelessly detect a fob programmed to its specific immobilizer before it powers on. If that fob is gone, the VW feels dead, but it isn't.
An event planner at the winery lot outside Alpine had a 2017 Volkswagen CC with KESSY push-to-start and zero keys. She was breaking down after an evening event and couldn't find her fob anywhere. Two staff members told her VW smart key AKL was dealer-only.
I drove to the winery. KESSY AKL is more involved than a standard flip key job because the immobilizer needs full access and old key data must be wiped before new fobs register. I used my ACDP to pull the IMMO data as a backup, then ran AKL with my IM608. Her smart key, FCC ID , was a 3-button proximity fob. She seemed pretty amazed when I told her the car was ready to start.
Her car started in the winery lot. Total was around $95. Dealer would have been $200 plus a tow. Smart key AKL isn't dealer-only, it's tool-dependent.
