2017 Volkswagen CC
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

Q: Do I really need to tow my CC to the dealer if I have no keys?

No. Towing is the dealer's answer because they need the car in their bay. It is not the only answer. A mobile locksmith with the right equipment and access to key code data can cut a working key at your location. The tow bill alone, before the dealer even looks at your car, can sting. We come to you.

Q: How long does an all-keys-lost replacement take on the 2017 CC?

For a mechanical key vehicle like this one, on-site time is typically under an hour. The main variables are whether we pull the key code from records or decode the lock directly. Either way, it is a single visit. Dealers on VW key jobs often have owners waiting days for an appointment and then additional time for any parts they need to order. We do not work that way.

Q: My 2017 CC starts fine but stalls immediately after. Could this be a key problem?

That start-then-stall pattern is a known sign that the vehicle security system is not recognizing the key. It happens when a replacement key was cut correctly for the locks but any anti-theft element was not properly addressed, or when the original key has developed a fault in the transponder side. The engine fires because the mechanical cut is right, then shuts down because the security side did not see what it expected. Do not keep cranking and hoping it clears.

Q: Can I get a copy of my CC key made at a hardware store?

A hardware store can copy the physical cut of the blade, but they will not have the ability to address any anti-theft element the key may carry. If the copy works fine, great. If the car starts and stalls, or does not start at all, you are back to needing a specialist anyway.

2017 Volkswagen CC Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Out in Alpine, near the Viejas Area, I got a call from a shop teacher who had been watching my channel for a while. He had already seen me do key work on a few different VWs and had saved my number for exactly this moment. When his 2017 Volkswagen CC left him with no working key, he skipped the dealer conversation entirely and just called me directly.

He met me in his driveway. He was the kind of person who wanted to watch the whole process, which I genuinely appreciate. He asked good questions and understood the answers.

The job itself was clean. I cut a replacement key to his vehicle, checked it in the door lock, checked it in the ignition, confirmed it turned smoothly through every position. Three start cycles, all clean. No drama.

He mentioned a friend had gone the dealer route on a different VW and spent days waiting for an appointment and then more days waiting for parts to come in. He paid a fraction of that and had a working key before lunch.

That is the job. No call center. No tow. The person who made the video is the person who showed up.

Volkswagen CC Mobile Service FAQ

Real costs, no dealer surprises

I lost all my keys to my 2017 Volkswagen CC. Can you still make a replacement?▼

Yes. All-keys-lost on the 2017 CC is a job we handle on site. Because this is a mechanical key vehicle, the process centers on cutting a new key to fit your specific locks and ignition cylinder, either by pulling the key code on record or by decoding your lock directly. No tow, no dealer, no waiting on a parts order. We come to you in the Viejas Area or anywhere in Alpine and get it done in one visit.
