Your 2016 Cadillac ATS uses a smart key with 5 buttons on the face, a CR2032 battery inside powering the proximity signal, and an emergency blade that slides out of the housing for manual door entry when the battery dies. Inside is a transponder chip that the car's body control module checks every time you press the start button.
A customer at home near Bel Air Knolls neighborhood had a ATS with a worn smart key. The chrome trim ring was cracked, the rubber button pad was peeling, and the emergency blade slot had gotten loose from daily use.
