2010 Cadillac STS Smart key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Do you need to tow your 2010 Cadillac STS to the dealer? For most Cadillacs from the mid-2000s through about 2020, probably not. I handle all-keys-lost right at the car.
A customer at home in Oxnard had his only fob stop working at 1am. His STS was in the driveway with push-to-start and no key the car would accept. He assumed a tow was the only path forward and had already started looking up flatbed prices for the morning. I told him to stay home and that I'd come to him.
I connected my Smart Pro to the OBD port and ran GM's smart key AKL procedure. His smart key, FCC ID M3N5WY7777A, was a 5-button proximity fob. I programmed it in his driveway at 1:30am. He seemed pretty surprised it could all be done right there.
His total was about 346. The dealer would have been 622 plus a tow and a wait until business hours. There are a small number of 2021 and newer Global B Cadillacs where my tools don't yet support AKL, and those do have to go to the dealer. But for the vast majority on the road, 2005 through about 2020, I do all-keys-lost on-site every week. If your model is one of the rare exceptions, I'll tell you straight up instead of wasting your time.
