2006 Cadillac STS Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A guy near Chesebro Canyon Trail in Simi Valley found me through my YouTube channel months before he actually needed help. He had watched a Cadillac smart key video, saw the full GM security relearn process on camera, and saved my number. When his 2006 STS fob started losing range, he already knew who to call.
He met me in the driveway and handed over the old fob. Five-button smart key, M3N-65981403, the wider style GM used on the first-gen STS. Battery contacts looked fine, but the fob's range had dropped to about two feet. Classic sign of internal board fatigue on these older remotes.
I set up on the hood with my VVDI Key Tool and ran the PK3+ immobilizer learn through the OBD-II port. The STS BCM (part number on his was a 15903414) cycled through its theft deterrent relearn, which includes a roughly ten-minute security timer. During that window I cut the emergency insert blade and tested it in the driver's door.
Once the learn completed, I walked every button: lock, unlock, trunk, remote start, panic. Three clean start cycles from the push button. Then I backed up across the driveway and hit lock from about 30 feet out. Solid chirp.
