2000 Acura CL Metal Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out near the Spring Valley Border side of Lemon Grove, I got a call from a guy at a dog park. Retired firefighter, bought his 2000 Acura CL used, drove it for months on the single key that came with it.
He finally called the Acura dealer to ask about a spare. The number they quoted him was enough to make him put it off another few weeks. Then he found me.
I pulled up while his dog was doing laps around a water fountain. He had the car with him, so I went straight to the door lock. Decoded the wafer positions, cut a matching key blade on site, and had a working spare in his hand before his dog settled down.
He asked me to walk him through how the lock decoding works, so I did. Once he understood that the wafer depths are what defines the key, and that a hardware store copy made from a worn original can drift just enough to cause problems, the whole thing made more sense to him. He said the dealer quoted him nearly double what he paid me and would have required him to bring the car in during business hours.
He saved a good chunk and never had to leave the park. The dog still ignored both of us.
