She was between gallery showings, standing in the parking area off the main strip in Downtown Ramona, and she had already made peace with the idea that her weekend was shot.

Programmed a replacement key, closed the loop on the transponder side, and let her test it herself. She turned it over twice back to back just to be sure. Both times it held.
The gallery had people coming back in twenty minutes. Her car was ready in less than that.
She mentioned the dealer later, almost as an aside. She'd already looked it up and knew they'd want a weekday appointment and a wait for parts. She didn't need any of that. She needed someone who could show up on a Saturday and actually fix it.
