2014 BMW X6
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2014 BMW X6 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

He was at a craft brewery in the Richland area of San Marcos when he realized his jacket was gone from the back of his chair. Keys, wallet, phone, all of it. He borrowed the bartender's phone, called the police, then his wife, then me.

His 2014 BMW X6 was sitting in the lot with zero keys in play. When his wife called the dealer, they said four to five business days, the car needed to be towed to them, and they were recommending a full key memory wipe since the stolen fob could still operate the doors. The estimate they gave her was not a small number.

I was there within the hour. All-keys-lost on a car like this means the old key data gets cleared from the body electronics module so the stolen fob becomes a useless piece of plastic the moment the job is done. I ran the enrollment process through my diagnostic equipment, cleared the old key slots, and registered two new fobs from scratch. Then I cut the emergency blade on each one and walked every function before I packed up.

He had two working fobs in his hand before his wife pulled into the lot to check on him. The stolen key cannot start the car, cannot unlock the doors. That part matters as much as having a working key again.

The dealer wanted the car towed in and nearly a week of waiting. He drove home that night.
