La Mesa Village was busy on a Saturday afternoon when I got the call. Guy had a 2001 GMC Safari, the extended van, sitting in a lot off Spring Street. His remote had stopped locking the doors a few weeks back and he'd been ignoring it. Then the key blade started giving him grief with one of his spare copies, and then his only working remote went dead.
He wasn't stranded, exactly. The van started fine. But he had no working remote and a spare key he wasn't sure about, and he wanted it all sorted before driving back through the neighborhood.

I programmed a replacement 4-button remote to the van right there using my programming equipment, tested all the buttons, confirmed lock and unlock were working, and walked him through what a low battery feels like versus a dead fob so he'd catch it earlier next time.
He mentioned a dealer had quoted him more than he expected for what he thought was a simple remote. He paid a fraction of that, without leaving the parking lot.
