2020 Hyundai Ioniq Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A resident over in Winter Gardens, in the Lakeside area, called me because his 2020 Hyundai Ioniq had a dead smart key and he lived in a gated apartment complex. The tow company he tried first could not get a flatbed past the security gate, management was closed, and there was no guest code available. His car was sitting in his assigned spot and going nowhere.
I drove in behind another resident, parked next to him in the lot, and went to work right there on the asphalt.
The job on these is not just cutting metal. I pulled the immobilizer PIN through the OBD port, built him a new four-button smart fob, programmed it to the vehicle using my diagnostic equipment, and walked every button before I left. Lock, unlock, trunk release, everything got tested. His original fob got erased from the system so it cannot be used to start the car if it ever turns up somewhere.
The thing he kept saying was that he had not even considered calling a mobile locksmith. He figured it was a dealer job, a tow job, and a wait. His car never moved. I came to him.
The dealer comparison came up after the fact, the way it usually does. He had already called them before reaching me. The appointment they offered was not same-day, and getting the car there would have meant the tow he was trying to avoid in the first place.
