2025 Hyundai Palisade
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2025 Hyundai Palisade Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a guy in Downtown Lemon Grove who'd already paid another locksmith to make him a key. That key had worked fine for about a week and a half.

Then his Palisade started doing this thing where it would start perfectly in the morning and then, later in the day, the push-to-start would just sit there. No crank, no warning, nothing. He figured the car had some kind of electrical gremlin and was already mentally budgeting a dealer visit.

He mentioned the other locksmith when I arrived, kind of casually, like he wasn't sure if it was connected. I told him it almost certainly was.

When I pulled up the fob history on my diagnostic unit, the mismatch was right there. The previous key had the wrong chip variant paired to the vehicle. Hyundai's immobilizer on the Palisade doesn't reject a wrong chip immediately every time. It passes the first verification layer, gets comfortable, and then the deeper background check kicks in over subsequent drive cycles. That's the window where the intermittent starts happen and owners assume it's something else entirely.

I programmed a new fob using the correct chip matched to his specific vehicle, confirmed the pairing completed cleanly, and walked every function. The old bad key got wiped from the system so it couldn't cause any more confusion.

He asked what the dealer would have charged just to diagnose the starting issue, before even touching the key. I told him the diagnostic alone would have eaten a good chunk of what he paid me for the whole job.

The Palisade has been running clean since.
