Downtown IB is a neighborhood where street parking happens fast and lunch breaks happen faster. A woman parked her 2024 Wagoneer on a side street near the waterfront, walked into her office, and came back to a fob that was not cooperating. Reseated it, cleaned the terminals, snapped it back together. Walked all the door handles, ran every button, confirmed the push functions and the locks. Everything came back. The warning cleared on its own once the fob was reading clean.
She did not need a new key. She needed someone who showed up with the right tools and took ten minutes to actually diagnose it instead of jumping straight to replacement. I told her to keep a spare fob in mind for the future, just as a backup. She said she had been meaning to do that since she bought the truck.
That is actually the more common story out here than people expect. The key is fine. The contact is not. The fix is boring and it works.
