2007 Land Rover LR3 Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call from someone in the Garden Road Area of Poway on a Friday night. The LR3 was sitting in their driveway, and they had one working key left.
The flip blade had snapped off at the hinge a few weeks earlier, and they had been starting the car by jamming the broken blade into the ignition with two fingers. That night, the blade slipped and they could not get it to catch. Not ideal.
When I pulled up, the remaining key shell was in three pieces held together by what I can only describe as optimism. The blade itself was intact but the hinge pin was gone and the head had cracked through.
I cut a new blade, set up the transponder programming on site, and enrolled the new key through the diagnostic port. Tested the remote functions, tested the start, walked through the lock and unlock. The whole visit ran under an hour.
They asked about going to the dealer. I told them that was a real option, but Land Rover dealers are not close out here, the key typically has to be ordered, and owners online have reported waits stretching from ten days to several weeks depending on parts availability. They had already waited too long on a broken key. A same-night fix in the driveway made more sense.
