2020 Lincoln Corsair
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2020 Lincoln Corsair Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A real estate agent working Third Avenue Village in Chula Vista called me between client showings. Her 2020 Corsair fob had taken a hard drop at some point. The shell was cracked along the seam, the buttons had gone mushy from the housing flexing, and the emergency blade insert was rattling loose inside. The car still started fine. The electronics were intact.

She had called the Lincoln dealer first. They quoted her a full fob replacement. No one mentioned that the circuit board and transponder chip inside her existing fob were working perfectly. The problem was the shell, not the system.

I met her in the Village. Pulled the board out of the cracked housing, transferred it into a fresh shell with tight button pads, reseated the blade so it locked properly, and verified the fob range on both lock and unlock before I called it done. No programming needed because no hardware changed. The same paired fob, just in a housing that wasn't splitting apart.

The whole thing took maybe twenty minutes on the hood of her car. She had a client waiting across the street. She made it.

The dealer quote was for a new fob, cut, and program. That would have been the right answer if the electronics were bad. They weren't. Knowing the difference is the job.
