2023 Lincoln Corsair
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

Q: How long does programming take once you're at my car?

On a 2023 Corsair where you still have one working fob, adding a spare usually runs 15 to 25 minutes on site once I'm connected. All-keys-lost takes longer. The vehicle security system enforces a timed security sequence before it accepts new fob registrations. That's built into the system and can't be skipped. Factor in closer to 45 to 60 minutes for an all-keys-lost job from arrival to working key. Either way, one visit, no tow, no waiting room.

Q: Can you make a key faster than the dealer?

Yes, by a wide margin. The dealer's timeline includes scheduling an appointment, getting the car there, waiting on their service queue, and in an all-keys-lost situation, possibly ordering parts. Corsair owners have posted about multi-day waits just to get an appointment, and that's before the actual work starts. I carry the correct fob blank for the 2023 Corsair on every call and bring the programming equipment with me.

Q: My Corsair fob works sometimes and fails other times. Is the fob going bad or is something else going on?

Intermittent behavior like that on a smart fob usually points to one of three things: a battery that's low but not fully dead yet, a slightly unseated battery making inconsistent contact, or interference from something nearby. The 2023 Corsair fob takes a CR2450 -- if someone put in a CR2032 trying to make it fit, it can make contact just enough to work inconsistently before it stops altogether.

Q: I bought a replacement fob online. Can I program it myself or do I need a tech?

You need a tech. The 2023 Corsair does not have an onboard self-programming sequence for smart keys. There's no ignition-turn trick, no button sequence, nothing you can do from the driver's seat to register a new fob. That style of DIY relearn exists on older vehicles with basic transponder keys in an ignition cylinder. Smart key systems on a vehicle this new require diagnostic equipment connected to the OBD port.

2023 Lincoln Corsair Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Got a call on a Wednesday afternoon from someone over in Rancho El Cajon. She was a nanny doing preschool pickup in a 2023 Lincoln Corsair, and the only fob had gone through the wash. Full cycle. The fob looked fine on the outside but it was completely dead -- no door response, no start.

Two kids waiting, parents expecting everyone home by a certain time, and the dealer had told her Friday was the earliest opening. It was Wednesday.

I drove out to the preschool parking lot. She had no working key at all, which means the job starts with security access through the OBD port before anything else happens. Connected my equipment, let the vehicle security system run through its timed enrollment sequence, and registered the new fob. The whole thing from parking my van to handing her a working key was under 30 minutes.

She tested every button herself before I packed up. Doors, the liftgate, the start. All good.

The dealer comparison came up on its own. She mentioned they had also quoted towing since the car wasn't drivable without a working fob. That added up fast. She paid a fraction of what they wanted, same day, in the lot where the car was already sitting.

Lincoln Corsair Mobile Service FAQ

Real costs, no dealer surprises

What if I need a Lincoln key after hours or on the weekend?▼

Call us. Lincoln's retail service model leans heavily on scheduled appointments during standard business hours, and most locations run limited Saturday availability with nothing on Sunday. If your only fob dies on a Friday evening, you're looking at Monday at the earliest -- and that's only if there's an open slot, which Corsair owners on forums have noted can run days out at busy stores. We work nights and weekends specifically because key failures don't follow a Monday-through-Friday schedule.
