2004 Mazda MPV
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2004 Mazda MPV Metal Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from Bancroft on a Tuesday morning - a woman in the parking area near the neighborhood community lot, standing next to her 2004 Mazda MPV with a broken key and nowhere to be.

She had owned the van for a few years, bought it used with a single key, always meant to get a copy made. That one key had been working loose in the ignition for weeks. That morning it gave up the rest of the way - snapped at the blade, part of it still sitting in the door lock cylinder.

I pulled the broken piece with an extractor, read the cut from what was left of the blade, and had a new key cut and tested inside of twenty minutes. She turned it in the ignition herself to make sure it felt right. It did.

She mentioned she had called the dealer first. They told her to tow it in, which on its own was already going to cost her more than my entire job. Getting a spare cut that same morning, on site in Bancroft, was not even a comparison.

If you still have the broken blade, even in pieces, bring it. I can often read the cut right off the fragment and skip a lock disassembly entirely.
