2016 Nissan Juke
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

Q: How do I know you're not a scam locksmith?

Scam locksmiths follow a pattern. Low quote on the phone, price balloons once you're standing in a parking lot at night with no other options. They also can't answer specific questions about your vehicle because they don't actually know the system. Ask any locksmith you're considering: what tool do you use to program a 2016 Juke smart key, and can you do all-keys-lost on site? A legitimate tech answers that without hesitation.

Q: Will the replacement key work exactly like the original?

Yes. A properly programmed replacement fob registers with the immobilizer the same way the factory key does. The vehicle security system sees it as a known, authorized key. Start function, door locks, and the passive detection the system uses to recognize when a fob is nearby all behave the way they should. We test everything on site before we consider the job done. That means cycling the locks, confirming the start, and walking through every button function.

Q: My 2016 Juke shows a key warning on the dash even with the fob in my hand. What's going on?

This comes up a lot with these. A key-not-detected warning while the fob is right there usually points to one of three things: the fob battery is low enough that the car can't read it reliably, there's interference from something close to the fob like another transponder key or a thick metal card holder, or the fob itself has developed a fault. Start by separating the Juke fob from everything else on your keyring and retesting.

Q: I bought a replacement fob online for my 2016 Juke. Can I program it myself?

No. The Intelligent Key system on this vehicle requires professional diagnostic equipment to register a new fob. There's no ignition-turn sequence or button trick that adds a smart key on this generation. That kind of onboard self-programming belongs to older systems with a key you turn in the ignition cylinder, not this setup. The fob you bought online is likely a valid unregistered shell, and it'll work fine once it's programmed. You don't need to return it.

2016 Nissan Juke Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

It was a Saturday night in Cardiff-by-the-Sea. A group of friends walked out of a Korean BBQ spot and their 2016 Juke wouldn't respond to anything.

The fob was dead, the car wouldn't wake up, and they had no idea there was a backup start procedure built right into the vehicle. They figured they were stranded until Monday and called me mostly just to ask if anything could be done that late.

I was already in Encinitas. Fifteen minutes away.

When I got there, the fob battery had just given out completely. I walked them through the passive start procedure first so they could see exactly what the car is capable of on its own. Then I popped the fob open and swapped in a fresh CR2032. Remote range came right back. The vehicle security system recognized the key immediately. Every function checked out before I handed it back.

They drove home that same night. The dealer would have meant a tow, a Monday appointment, and a wait. When the right parts are already in the van, a Saturday night call gets the same result as a Tuesday morning.

Nissan Juke Mobile Service FAQ

Real costs, no dealer surprises

Are you licensed and insured to work on Nissan vehicles?▼

Yes. EZ Car Keyz holds a California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services license (LCO#6792) and carries full insurance. Beyond the license, working on a 2016 Juke's Intelligent Key system requires professional diagnostic equipment to register keys to the immobilizer. Not every locksmith carries the right tools for this specific system, and some will turn you away or send you to the dealer because they're not equipped.
