2011 Porsche Cayman Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A retired hedge fund manager at his gated estate driveway near Richland had a 2011 Porsche Cayman with a damaged smart fob. The car-shaped housing had cracked at the nose from being dropped on stone, and the emergency blade was loose inside. The Porsche dealer told him the only fix was a completely new smart key, programmed and cut, for about $843. What they didn't mention was that the electronics inside were still working perfectly. The KESSY module still recognized the fob when he held it together. He just needed a new shell.
Your Cayman uses a Smart Key, which on smart key models means a car-shaped fob housing with 5 buttons, a CR2032 battery powering the wireless communication, and an emergency HU66 blade tucked inside for backup entry. The KESSY module in the car detects this fob through proximity antennas in the doors and cabin.
I used my ACDP to read the KESSY EEPROM as a safety backup before starting, then moved his working electronics into a fresh car-shaped housing, replaced the CR2032 battery, and verified every button plus push-to-start and Keyless-Go. His fob, FCC ID KR55WK50138, worked exactly as before.
He paid about $478 for the shell swap and battery. Dealer wanted $843 to replace the entire fob when only the plastic was broken.
