I transferred his fob internals into a fresh housing, reseated the CR2032 against a clean contact, and locked the blade pivot back down properly. Then I connected to the OBD port and ran a full verification through the vehicle's immobilizer and keyless system to confirm the fob was still registered correctly and hadn't dropped out during the handling. Everything came back clean. Push-button start, door handle response on both sides, lock, unlock, and the alarm trigger all working.
He came down from his meeting, tested it himself, and went back upstairs. The car never moved. He saved a significant chunk compared to what the dealer quoted, and he didn't lose a half-day arranging a tow.
