2013 Porsche Cayman Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A retired airline captain at the waterfront brunch spot near Rsf Village on a Sunday morning told me he'd already been burned by another locksmith. He paid full price for a 2013 Porsche Cayman smart key that never programmed correctly. The car would crank but the immobilizer killed the engine after two seconds. The other tech said the KESSY module was bad and left.
The KESSY module wasn't bad. It had a locksmith problem, not a module problem. Porsche requires the PIN and security codes to be calculated from the immobilizer data and written to the smart key in the correct encrypted format. If you skip a step or use the wrong tool version, the key appears registered but isn't permanently learned.
I connected through OBD with my IM608. I cleared the failed key data from the previous attempt, read fresh KESSY data, computed the correct codes, and wrote a clean key file to a new fob. His smart key, FCC ID KR55WK50138, had all 5 buttons working plus clean push-to-start with no fuel cutoff. I showed him the confirmation on my screen so he could see it was fully learned this time.
He paid me $398. Dealer charges $726 for the same work. He'd already paid the first locksmith too, which I couldn't undo. But I could make sure the job was done correctly.
