2017 Volkswagen Tiguan Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out near the Spring Valley Border, a graphic novelist flagged me down through a text she'd sent the night before. Her 2017 Tiguan had a flip key with a busted hinge. The blade was hanging loose from the housing, wobbling around every time she reached for it. The remote still worked. The car still started. She just needed it to hold together.
She'd already called the dealer before reaching out to me. They told her the only path was a full replacement key, cut and programmed from scratch. She didn't push back because it sounded official.
I got to her driveway with replacement shells and my decoding tools. Popped the housing open right on her hood so she could see what was inside. The circuit board looked clean. The chip was seated fine. Nothing wrong in there at all. I transferred the electronics into a new housing, decoded the blade, cut a fresh one to match, snapped everything together and tested every button.
She stood there watching the whole thing and kept saying she thought the entire key had to be replaced. That's the part that gets people. The dealer's answer wasn't wrong exactly, but it wasn't the only answer. A new shell and a cut blade solved it without touching the programming.
She saved a good chunk compared to what the dealer quoted, and she didn't have to leave her driveway.
